Threats to Information Security
Introduction
Howard Garner who is the developer of the theory of multiple intelligences suggests that all individuals no matter how dumb they are, possess different kinds of intelligence. Educators have found this handy during their teaching process, as they can now use a different approach to making sure students understand concepts. The article is going to look at whether understanding the theory of multiple intelligences can help a person navigate life more easily. Through studying the various intelligence as stated by Howard will help us to come to a substantial conclusion.
Numerous intelligence were posited to exist among different individuals making it easy for them to excel in various areas with the right approach. According to Kelly (2017), Garner stated that there is nine intelligence. They included: linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, body-kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalist, and existential intelligence. Verbal-linguistic intelligence refers to the ability of a person to be able to examine information and provide work such as books and speeches which involve written and oral language (Edutopia, 2016). Logical-mathematical intelligence shows the potential to do calculations, develop equations and proofs, and be able to find answers to abstract problems.
Intrapersonal intelligence deals with the capacity of a person to be able to see and assess the characteristics they have. Interpersonal intelligence is concerned about understanding other people’s motivation, moods, and intentions. Body-kinesthetic intelligence involves using one’s body to make products. On the other hand, visual-spatial enables individuals to comprehend graphical data including maps. People can produce and understand different types of sounds through musical intelligence. Finally, naturalistic intelligence allows people to pinpoint animals, plants and weather conditions in the world. Initially, teachers focused more on the linguistic and the logical-mathematical intelligence which most students are not good at. If people learn to integrate the other intelligence into their teaching plan, they will be able to engage a more significant group of students.
Nevertheless, teachers should not feel obligated to include all the intelligence into their teachings plan. According to Kelly (2017), they should try to provide variety. Activities such as music have been proven to make students more interactive thus enhancing the learning process. When students fully understand what they are being taught, they develop a positive attitude towards problems making it easy for them to handle other struggles in their lives. Through verbal-linguistic and visual-spatial intelligence people can understand the information provided in their work areas and make sense of the statistical data presented in the form of graphs. Subsequently doing their assignments efficiently and effectively. Being able to interpret sounds through musical intelligence can alert one of any danger before it reaches them. By understanding intrapersonal intelligence, one can be able to identify the problems in their lives and obtain the necessary help before things get out of hand. Consequently, multiple intelligence helps people to handle situations using the correct methods.
Conclusion
From the article, it can be seen that multiple intelligence provides students with numerous methods of active learning. Through the intelligence, people are also able to work on their assignments and make sense of the materials provided. I, therefore, agreed with the idea that understanding multiple intelligences helps one go through life smoothly.
