Sustainable Renewable Energy Systems in Edinburg
Edinburg Village in Texas is among the world’s most developed cities. However, there are many technological areas of interest that can be recommended for the area. One of the main scientific areas is sustainable energy. Most residents of the village use energy from non-renewable sources which leads to pollution of the environment and global warming (Boyle, 2004). One recommendation to the area is the use of sustainable energy. Sustainable energy is clean energy which can be harvested without any negative effects to the environment and the lives of future generations (Boyle, 2004). Other variants of the term sustainable energy are clean energy, green energy and renewable energy systems. This paper addresses the use of renewable energy as a recommendation for Edinburg Village (Boyle, 2004).
According to Jennings (2009), renewable energy is the energy that is obtained from infinite sources that are replenished naturally without any action of man. The main sources of renewable energy include energy from the sun, wind, waves, the interior earth surface, water and plants. Just like conventional sources of energy, renewable sources can be used for generation of electricity, heat and fuels for domestic and industrial use. The main reason why I recommend renewable energy for the region is because of its environmental neutrality. Renewable energy does not cause environmental degradation of any kind.
Solar energy is the most abundant source of renewable energy (Zahedi, 2010). It is the basis of other variants of renewable energy. Since Edinburg is located within the tropics, the amount of solar radiation that is received daily can be used in generating cleaner energy for the people. Instead of relying on natural gas and petroleum fuels, I recommend the use of solar energy photovoltaic cells and solar thermal systems as alternative energy sources. Another renewable energy option for the region is wind energy. It is possible to erect wind turbines to tap wind energy for a variety of domestic energy needs like pumping of water as opposed to fossil fuels (Zahedi, 2010). Other possible solutions to the fossil fuel energy crisis in Edinburg Village include the use of geothermal energy, biogas energy from organic wastes and hydroelectric energy. If the renewable sources of energy are utilized, the place shall become better.
